Bob passed away on Friday, September 15th surrounded by his family. Bob was born in Dubuque, Iowa on October 25, 1938 to James Francis and Marie Jeanette Carney. He was raised in Waterloo, Iowa. Graduated from West Waterloo High school and the University of Iowa. He did graduate work at the University of North Iowa. Bob and his family (Wife Shirley, Daughters, Sharon and Susan, and Son John moved to Boca Raton, Florida in June of 1968. He later moved to Delray Beach in June of 1986.
He worked for IBM in Boca Raton from June 1968 until February 1996 and then contracted to a number of large companies including: IBM, Office Depot, Disney, Eckards, and AT&T. He married Linda Halsey in November 1999. She was the love of his life and best friend. The highlight of his retirement was seeing at least 40 countries with his mate and the time he spent with his local grandchildren, Sarah and Reilly Stivason. He worked out in Woodlake with the good friends Chuck and Harry. He was an active sailor and diver. He volunteered for Special Olympics and St. Vincent Care Ministry for many years.
He is survived by his wife Linda, son John (Carrie), daughter Susan (Bret), Grandchildren Sean (Carol), Sarah, Reilly Evan, Rebecca, Breanna (Michael), Julian (Yvette), Great Grandchildren, Kellen, Sloane, Lucian, Silas, and Mavrick. He was preceded in death by his daughter Sharon.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 20th at 11:00am at Ascension Catholic Church in Boca.
