Albert "Bert" Lester Bramble Iii

It is with great sadness that the family of Albert ‘Bert’ Lester Bramble III, 87, announces his passing on April 21, 2023 at his home in Boynton Beach, Florida from Alzheimer’s disease. Bert is survived by his wife Lorraine Bramble and children Christopher Bramble, Timothy Bramble, Ginger Bramble Kennedy and stepchildren Stacey Krizan and Garrett Bruttomesso as well as granddaughters Kyra and Serena Bramble, grandsons Quinlan and Aidan Kennedy as well as step grandchildren Logan, DJ & Brooke Krizan and Cole & Paige Bruttomesso.

He was born on November 11, 1935 in Norfolk, VA. where he lived until he went off to college. He was predeceased by his parents Albert Lester Bramble Jr and Virginia Bramble of Norfolk VA and former wife Judy Bramble. Bert graduated from Maury HS, Norfolk VA in 1954; and from Virginia Military Institute in 1958 majoring in Electrical Engineering. He graduated as a 2nd Lt. in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1959 as a 1st Lt.

He was employed as a civilian by the US Army at Ft. Monmouth, NJ from 1958 to 1994 and lived in Oceanport, NJ from 1966 to 2010.

Bert’s hobbies included biking, canoeing, electronics, ham radio, model railroad trains, photography, rebuilding Volvo cars, sailing & teaching sailing, skiing, swimming, carpentry and woodworking.
He was very proud that as a child he developed his own film in his dark room; restored a boat; got his Ham Operators License & continued to use it until his passing. In his adult years he taught himself carpentry, electrical wiring & plumbing in order to build his own home in Oceanport, NJ in 1965 where he raised his family and began his retirement. In 1975 he designed and built a second floor to the Oceanport house.
In his retirement he learned to solo sail building up to crossing the Atlantic in his 35’ boat with wife Lorraine in 2004 and subsequently passing his Captain’s License. They sailed their Island Packet Boat in the Mediterranean from 2004 – 2012.

In his later years, he also enjoyed boat charters, cruises and travel to Alaska, South America, Iceland, Norway, Thailand, New Zealand, Tahiti, Baja and the Caribbean islands. He & his wife moved to Florida in 2010. He is remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, friend & a true southern gentleman to many. He is greatly missed.
