Charles T. Righton, age 83, of Delray Beach, FL, formerly of Meriden and Middletown, CT., loving husband of Dolores Nancy (Pepe) Righton, passed away on August 6, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Meriden on September 18, 1939, a son of the late Charles and Renney Righton. He was predeceased by his 1st grandson, Joshua Michael C. Righton. Besides his wife, Dolores, Charlie leaves behind his sister Gail King; daughters Christine (Righton) Coe, Charlene Williams, Claudine Scheer; stepdaughters Lisa (Gostyla) Kramer and Laureen (Gostyla) Westman, grandchildren Paulina Klimek-Cornett, Stephanie, Tyler, Kasia, Elias, Kaleb, Kamryn, and Brayden Williams, Randi Doehr, Jenny (Scheer) Albert, Ryan and Stacey Scarrozzo, Lacey (Kramer) Taylor, Jacob Kramer, Nathan and Gabriel Westman and nieces, Jessica (King) Gould and Cassandra King.
Charlie was proud of being a member of the Meriden Fire Department, where he served on Engine 5 for almost 30 years and being a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 77.
Charlie loved Lincolns but hated Cadillacs, loved family get togethers, in which he manned the grill, beach trips, pepperoni pizzas, finding deals at tag sales, banana splits, and Dee’s cooking, saying it had “just the right amount of zing!”
Charlie always had a welcoming smile, a quiet chuckle, and a story to tell, and all will be dearly remembered.
A memorial service, celebrating Charlie’s life will be held on Saturday, August 19th at 11am in West Park Baptist Church, 4004 Lake Ida Road, Delray Beach, FL 33445.
