David R. Povlitz: September 3, 1948 – February 7, 2023
David R. Povlitz, known by those who love him as “Davo,” “Pov,” “Povo,” “The Mayor,” and “The Cleaner,” passed away peacefully on February 7th in Boca Raton, FL, surrounded by his loving family.
David was born in 1948 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Robert and Alika (Keros) Povlitz, and is the oldest of five children. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a Radio Operator, eventually reaching the rank of Sergeant. After being honorably discharged, he attended and graduated from Michigan State University in 1972 with a hotel and restaurant administration degree.
Driven by a strong passion and work ethic, he relocated to South Florida where he launched Anago Cleaning Systems, an internationally franchised commercial cleaning brand. There, he developed a business model that allows people to achieve financial and personal success for themselves, their families, and their communities through small business ownership.
David was many things to many people: friend, mentor, teacher, counselor, and the best storyteller. He was a lover of travel (especially Key West), playing craps, guitar, and cruising – so full of life. He would talk to anyone and make every one of them laugh. Always curious and looking to learn, he wanted you to see your own full potential – and he is missed tremendously.
With his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Robert Povlitz II (Jackie), and brother Martin Povlitz (Jorja).
He is survived by his wife Frances, children Lisa Ritenour (Joseph) and Adam Povlitz (Erin), stepdaughter Kimberly Lord (Michael), grandchildren Cole, Elle, Parker, and Juliana , and siblings Charles Povlitz (Marilyn), Dionne Warrick (James), as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
A memorial service in his honor will be held Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 9:30am at Saint Ambrose Catholic Church located at 380 Federal Highway, Deerfield Beach, FL. Followed by a Celebration of Life from 11:00am – 3:00pm at the Wyndham Deerfield Beach Resort located at 2096 NE 2nd St, Deerfield Beach, FL in the Royal Palm Ballroom.
