In Loving Memory of Domenica “Mickey” Vaticano

Domenica “Mickey” Vaticano, 78, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2026, at VITAS Healthcare Inpatient Hospice Care in Delray Beach, Florida, surrounded by love.

Mickey was born on February 12, 1948, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, to Paulo Nick Vaticano and Angela Sarafina Pisani Vaticano.

Mickey discovered her passion for the beauty industry at a young age, beginning her career as a beautician at just 16 years old. Her talent, determination, and entrepreneurial spirit led her to work for the Redken company in New York City and at various salons throughout New Jersey. She later became the proud owner of Vaticano Hair Studio in Somerset, New Jersey, which she owned and operated for over 20 years.

After retiring to Palm Beach County, Florida, Mickey's love for her profession and the people she served never left her. She continued working in various salons in Florida until the age of 78, making her career in the beauty industry a remarkable lifelong journey spanning more than six decades.

But Mickey's life was about far more than her career. She was loved by many and was known for her strength, independence, leadership, and genuine concern for the people around her. She was a natural leader among her peers and someone who deeply cared for her friends and family. Throughout her life, she formed lasting relationships with countless people who began as clients, coworkers, and friends but became part of her extended family.

Mickey is survived by her son, Anthony D'Orsi, and daughter-in-law, Sandra Mendivelso, of Palm Beach County, Florida; her daughter, Angela Bernardino, and son-in-law, Jack Bernardino, of Denville, New Jersey; and her three beloved grandchildren, Sebastian, Vincent, and Gabriella LaMorte.

She is also survived by her brothers, Carmelo and Vincent Vaticano, and her sister, Angela Vaticano.

Mickey was predeceased by her brothers, John and Salvatore Vaticano, and her sister, Teresa Greenstien.

Mickey will be remembered for the strength with which she lived her life, the friendships she built, her dedication to a career she truly loved, and, above all, the love she had for her family.

Her presence touched many lives, and the memories she created will continue to live on through those who knew and loved her.

Funeral Services

Funeral services honoring Mickey's life are anticipated to be held in October 2026 at St. Helena Roman Catholic Church in Edison, New Jersey, with the exact date and time to be announced.

Following the church service, a cemetery ceremony will be held at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cemetery in Fords, New Jersey, where Mickey will be laid to rest.
