Cook, Donald Harvey
Donald Cook of Boynton Beach, Florida 74, passed away October 12, 2014. Don was the devoted husband to his wife, Beverly G. Agee for over 20 years. Donald was born in Norwich, NY. He was raised and worked on his family's farm from age 5 until he was 15. He graduated in 1957 and under his photo at Sherburne Central High School was the caption "merry and roguish and loads of fun - with Don around who needs the sun ". He joined the Navy as soon as he graduated high school. He served on Air Craft Carriers during the Cuban Missile crisis as well as three tours in Vietnam. He rose through the ranks in the Navy. After retiring from the Navy, he joined Navy Re-sale, the Base Exchange System serving sailors around the world where he worked for over 25 years in various positions. During his last position in Navy Resale he met Beverly in San Francisco. Beverly retired from her position with the Federal Government 1998, and they moved to Florida. In 2001 he started the South Florida Chapter of NEREA , Navy Exchange Retired Employees Association and served as President until his death. Don also found Beverly a new career in 2001 in a different area of the legal system. Don became the Office Manager for her legal practice and Household Manager for their home. Don is survived by his wife, Beverly, his two children, Charlie (Jennifer), Linda (Tommy) and his friend Manuela Cook. He was the proud grandfather of his first grandchild, Charlie – age one and a half. As he requested, being Navy all the way, his remains will be sent out to sea (in a salt urn -biodegradable) in the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean.
