The Newe family is deeply saddened to announce the passing of their mom, Eileen Cecelia (Byrnes) Newe on October 11, 2023. Eileen died at Good Samaritan Hospice in West Palm Beach. She succumbed to complications from acute uremic encephalopathy after bravely battling dementia for the past five years. Eileen was born in Brooklyn, New York on December 11, 1934. Eileen is survived by her beloved sister, Patricia Benner, along with her children Christopher, John, and Susan, and her only grandchild, Haley. Eileen was greeted into heaven by her son Kevin who passed away in 2019 as well as her mother Mary Byrnes and her siblings Mary Cawley and Frank Byrnes. Eileen retired from the Old Bridge County School District in 1992, where she held the position of maintenance supervisor. Eileen's commitment to her work was further exemplified by her achievement as one of the first women to obtain a black seal license in the state of New Jersey, breaking down barriers and paving the way for future generations of women. Eileen had two great passions in life. The first was her love for the beach, where she found solace and tranquility. Eileen's second passion was her unwavering love for cats. She cared deeply for these furry creatures, finding joy in their companionship and dedicating herself to their well-being. Her kindness and compassion towards cats will always be remembered. May she find eternal peace in the embrace of the ocean she loved so dearly, and may her spirit forever be surrounded by the feline companions who brought her joy. Eileen’s keen sense of humor was something her children, family and, friends will never forget. Mom loved a good laugh. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Vincent Ferrer located at 840 George Bush Blvd, Delray Beach Florida 33483 on December 11, 2023 at 10:30 am where family and friends can gather to celebrate Eileen's remarkable life and legacy. For friends and family who wish to be with us here but regretfully cannot, live streaming will be available. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a local cat rescue Give Hope Cat Rescue, Inc.
