Emme Wissmann Cortelyou died peacefully on December 11 in Boynton Beach, Florida. She retired from teaching in non-traditional environments including institutions for the developmentally disabled and correctional facilities. She was an active member of the community at Sterling Village Condominiums, including the crafts group and book club. She played bridge all of her life, often hosting bridge group in her previous hometown of Phelps, NY. She attended the First Presbyterian Church of Del Ray Beach. She had a wicked sense of humor and was quick to laugh, loved reading, and appreciated every day. She is survived by her children, daughter Holly Estruch, son and daughter-in-law Carter and Andrea, daughter and son-in-law Penelope and Daniel Ellard and four grandchildren. She is also survived by her husband’s family including two siblings, a sister-in-law and their families. A memorial service will be held at the family's convenience.
