Jennifer Patterson, 50, of Palm Beach County, FL, passed away unexpectedly on August 3, 2023.
She is survived by her mother, Susan Queen Patterson, her stepfather, Jim Wetmore, and has been reunited with her father, Cordell Graves Patterson and brother, Cordell Graves Patterson Jr.
Jennifer epitomized the essence of hard work, resilience, and determination throughout her life. When faced with a challenge, she never backed down – instead, she rolled up her sleeves and forged a path forward.
Her path led her to the University of Central Florida, where she put herself through college, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She went on to get her CPA and Master of Science and Accounting.
Over the years, Jennifer pursued a variety of professional endeavors, all of which she fearlessly mastered. In her most recent job at Arete, Jennifer pioneered a successful business line, designing the process and building a team who relied on her expertise and guidance. Jennifer focused on their success, celebrated their accomplishments, and fostered an environment of trust and camaraderie. Her team became more than co-workers – they became like family. And for Jennifer, family was everything.
Jennifer adored her mother, Susan and best friends, Bridget O’Donnell and Teri O’Reilly. They spent countless hours talking on the phone, laughing, and vacationing together in Jennifer’s favorite spot – Highlands, North Carolina. Jennifer spent as much time there as possible, enjoying the mountains and hiking with Elizabeth Taylor, her beloved Irish golden doodle. Nothing made Jennifer feel more at home than being in nature with those she loved. Jennifer loved well and was loved by many.
When Jennifer walked into a room, everyone noticed. It wasn’t because she was the loudest person there. It may have been because of her unmistakable laugh, infectious smile, and gorgeous curls. And it was most certainly because she connected intentionally and deeply with those around her. It didn’t matter who you were or where you were; Jennifer had a knack for finding common ground, what made you tick, and you left feeling seen, heard, and appreciated.
Jennifer’s strong faith in Jesus was evident in how she loved and served others. She packaged and served meals to those facing food insecurity, visited children with cancer, supported foster families, and delivered care packages to first responders. Jennifer also led many years in Youth and Women’s Ministry at Journey Church and was chosen to coach a group of women leaders. Caring for others was at the core of who Jennifer was, and as an organ donor, she did just that until her final breath.
Jennifer’s legacy is one of resilience, selflessness, and love. Although she is no longer with us, we are comforted knowing that she was welcomed into our Father’s arms, where she no doubt heard the words “well done, good and faithful servant.”
Celebration of life will be held on August 7, 2023.
