John R Kunkel

John R. (Ray) Kunkel aged 87, of Boynton Beach, Florida and formerly of Aurora Illinois, passed away on February 4, 2017 at the Boynton Beach Rehabilitation Center, in Boynton Beach Florida.
He was born on November 1, 1929 in Galva Illinois, the son of John and Charlotte Kunkel. On April 23, 1949, he married JoAnn D. Rockabrand and had two sons David R. Kunkel and Jeffry A. Kunkel.
Ray worked at Eby-Brown Company in Aurora Illinois for over 42 years beginning as a delivery driver and working up to be the top Salesman for the company before retiring and moving to Boynton Beach Florida with his wife JoAnn.
Ray was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Aurora, Illinois where he served as a head usher and taught Sunday School.
He was drafted into the Army in January of 1952 and served our Country for two years and was honorably discharged in January of 1954.
After retiring and moving to Boynton Beach, Ray volunteered as an Ambassador for the Palm Beach International Airport and held the position of head volunteer coordinator. Ray was also active with his condo association and served multiple terms as the President.
Ray is survived by his wife JoAnn Kunkel, David and wife Mary, Jeff and wife Lynn and two grandchildren from David and Mary Kunkel, Stephanie Kunkel and Stephen Kunkel and his wife Kristina. Ray was preceded in death by his older sisters Helen Kunkel Chinworth and Doris Kunkel Kingsbury and younger brother Ken Kunkel.
