We are broken hearted and saddened to announce the passing of Kenneth K. Spellman, affectionately known as Special K, 64, of Boynton Beach, Fl. formerly of Staten Island, N.Y. On Monday, September 11th , 2023 .
Kenneth Spellman, overachiever, graduated from Curtis HS at the tender age of sixteen . Kenneth enlisted in the Army where he served as a Communication Specialist and eventually an Instructor of Communication Services.
After leaving the Army, Kenneth enlisted in the Air Force. During this period he was awarded specialities including:- Administration Management, Postal Special Computer Systems Operator and Computer Systems .
During his military career Kenneth received numerous awards for his service including:- Two suggestion awards, which saved the military money .
The highlights of his Military career was his assignment to the American Embassy, Rome, Italy and his appointment as an instructor for the Air Force .
Kenneth dedicated his life to computer technology, broadcasting of the arts.
He was also the Founder and CEO of the Broadcast Academy Inc., a not for profit organization, focusing on bridging the gap between technology and the performing arts and also the Founder and CEO of Soundcheck Inc. Entertainment and Broadcast Consultancy, where he was able to launch the careers of numerous artists.
The highlight of his professional career was his involvement with the launching of Sirius Satellite Radio in 2000, as Program Manager for the R&B division. He was also working for RCS.
After his stint with Sirius Satellite Radio, Kenneth went on Worldwide Tours , working as a Personal Assistant and Technical Director to a Hall of Fame inductee DJ from the 1970's.
Kenneth was also working with other music companies such as Noizemaka Music, KCEP, FAMU and Street Lord Radio..
Kenneth became a Realtor after moving to Florida .
He loved to learn and teach so he decided to further his education by attending Cornell University, where he excelled.
Ken loved to spend quiet time at the beach .
His hobbies included.. caring for tropical fish , tracking his family tree, collecting coins and writing his book .
Kenneth would like to be remembered for his mild manners, calm and warm humble spirit and technical advances in broadcasting.
His favorite slogan was : Keep your head to the sky . Don't let this cold world get you down ..Because that's the way of the world.
Kenneth leaves to mourn his passing his faithful, devoted and loving wife Andrea, his loving mother Yvonne D. Burkhalter (Staten Island, NY), his brother Russell Spellman (Rome, Italy), son Kenneth Klarke (KK) Spellman II( Staten Island, NY), his daughter Jessica Leigh Triana (Joey) (Oregon), bonus son Troy T. .Howard (Florida), grandchildren. Cousins - Earl Spellman, Leslie Lewis, Tanya Mc Kinney and other family and friends, too many to mention..
