Peter Guarasci

d. Jun 14, 2026

Peter Joseph Guarasci, 77, of Boynton Beach FL and formerly of Wayland and Flushing NY, passed away peacefully in hospice on June 14, 2026. His granddaughters, Julia and Alicia, and his sister, Joanne, were by his side all day before he passed.

Pete was born July 15, 1948 in Astoria NY and grew up in Flushing NY, where he met his beloved wife, Pauline Dulovic Guarasci. He married Pauline on November 3, 1973 at St. John Nepomucene Church in New York NY. They later moved to Wayland NY on his grandparents' family farm but spent their final years enjoying the warm weather in Boynton Beach FL.

Pete worked as a truck driver the majority of his life. He loved serving his community. He proudly served his Wayland community as a volunteer fire fighter for 16 years and drove ambulance for the community. He was involved with the local Boy Scouts Troops and loved to cook and was great at it. He would bring the best foods to any bring-a-dish get-together. He served cooking community breakfasts and calling bingo in both the Wayland community and the Boynton Beach community. He had a passion to serve with other dedicated people and making friends everywhere he went.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Peter and Anna Guarasci, and his wife, Pauline. He is survived by his three children Anna Merkl, Michael Guarasci (Jennifer) and Joseph Guarasci and his sister Joanne (Robert Yost), his six grandchildren Amanda, Victoria, Jessica, Julia, Alicia and Joseph and two great grandchildren Logan and Noah.

Pete is also survived by many friends in both New York and Florida, who are just as well deserving of the title of family and who are still beloved by his family.

Pete was known as Grandpa Guarasci and Tooth Pick Pete. He had a passion for hunting, fishing, going to the gun range, gardening, camping, cooking and eating ice cream. He could tell stories like no other and had a sense of humor that comes once in a lifetime. He was the kind of man who, when you needed a friend, he would always be there. If you needed someone to call, he was answering your call in the middle of the night and would talk for hours. Pete was an authentic leader who led a life of putting others before himself no matter the risk.

He made a mark on many lives and will be deeply missed. The Family plans to have a Celebration of Life for Pete at a date to be determined in October in Jamaica Bay, where he lived in Boynton Beach.

Donations in Peter’s memory can be made to Wayland Hose Company, 14-18 East Naples Street, Wayland, NY 14572.
