Sally Simms Barnett

November 28, 1934 — October 6, 2025

Sally Simms Barnett, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully after a long and beautiful life on October 6, 2025. Sally was 90 years old and was born in and raised in Saint Louis. For over fifty years, Sally called Miami Beach her home before settling in Greenacres, Palm Beach County, where she continued to fill her days with love, laughter, and warmth shared with family and friends.

Sally is survived by her devoted children—Linda, Paul, Jeffrey, and George (Gary)—as well as four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her endless joy and pride. Her family, along with the many people she welcomed into her home and treated as family, will remember her open heart, generosity, and boundless spirit.

A true Floridian at heart, Sally found deep happiness in the state’s coastal beauty. Her favorite places to visit in Florida were the Keys and the Driftwood Inn in Vero Beach, a seaside retreat she began visiting soon after arriving in Florida in the 1960s. Those cherished visits became a lifelong tradition—memories filled with sun, sea, and laughter shared with the people she loved most.

Sally encouraged and supported her children in many sports including tennis, ballet, karate, football, and gymnastics. She especially loved ice skating, taking up the sport with her children. She met her lifelong friend Susan in skating class and performed in shows with Susan and her kids. Her daughter would later become a skating coach.

“Mom”, as she was affectionately known by many, will be missed dearly by all whose lives she touched. Her legacy of kindness and compassion will endure in the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to have known her.

Her ashes will be scattered, along with those of her beloved husband, during a small family celebration of life in Vero Beach, a place that held so many of her happiest memories.

Donations can be made in Sally’s memory to the Audubon Society supporting her love of birds.
